Wow, talk about a slow start! School has taken up a lot of time and recently I've been playing and just finished Dragon Age: Origins for my new Xbox so I've been slacking a little bit when it's come to programming and gaming.
I'm currently trying to make better use of the Dell server I bought a year or so ago. Right now it's just a place that I use to play around with virtualbox and my Ubuntu and Windows 7 virtual machines. I bought another Netgear router and set it up for bridge mode so that it could talk with the router downstairs that's hooked up to the cable modem. So now the server is wireless! This was also useful for connecting the Xbox online as well.
Today I started copying my music library from my laptop to the server (only 13 hours more to go!). Once that is done I plan on setting up rsync to sync up any changes on my laptop to the server. Then I plan on playing around a little bit with iTunes and seeing how easy it is to use the music library on the server instead of my local one. My iPod has had the same music for years now so I'm attempting to get some new music but since we have a few laptops and desktops around I am hoping that our server can be the central hub for all media so that it can be shared throughout.
So far I've set up Samba sharing using this link and the rsync daemon using these links - one and two.
Hopefully all of my music will be there by tomorrow!
